Architectural Specifications For Visualite 505 Jalousie Windows

General

The jalousie window shown on the architect's drawings shall be Visualite, Series 505 as manufactured by Aloha Visualite, Ltd., The Dalles, Oregon. All windows shall be furnished in the sizes indicated and all standard hardware shall be included.

Materials

Sections shall be of 6063-T5 heat-treated aluminum alloy, engineered and reinforced up to .125" at strategic points, with a minimum of .077", 1-1/8" x 2-13/16" overall. Wood fabric, felt or any other perishable materials are not to be used as a structural part in their manufacture.

Construction

Extruded aluminum sections of 6063-T5 alloy. Frame members shall be not less than 2-1/2" deep and shall be .075" thick with an extrusion tolerance acceptable to the trade of plus or minus .006". Minimum jamb thickness at the clips attachment shall be .100" and jamb shall be one continuous vertical piece.

Jalousie Clips

Jalousie clips shall be formed from 5052 H32 aluminum .050" in thickness and so designed to accept glass blades 4" wide. Jalousie clips shall be balanced to provide smooth, effortless, positive action. A special jalousie clip to hold 3/4" wood blades without rabbeting is also available. Push bar is made of 6063-T5 aluminum alloy, 1/2" wide x 1/8" thick.

Operation

Window to have LEVER or GEAR action operation that leaves no projection into room in either full open or closed position. There is a choice of right or left hand operation. Split operation (two or more operators on the same side) is standard starting with 10 slats. Fasteners connecting the operator lever arm housing/bracket to the jamb/mullion frame shall be secured to it with bolts and nuts with lock washers or lock nuts.

Finish

The window shall be finished in natural aluminum finish and to be free from any serious surface defects or foreign matter and anodized in .0004" clear or bronze finish. Painted coating finish or .0007" anodized finish is also available.

Installation of Jalousies

The installation contractor shall install the window straight, plumb, and level securely anchoring them into place. Full surround units only: Sealant provided by window erector shall be used in sufficient quantity to provide a weather-tight seal between window and surrounding construction. Installation and sealant to be in strict accordance with the recommendations of the window manufacturer.

Application

Visualite, Series 505 can be installed in any type of window frame or directly on finished studs. Jalousies, vertical or horizontal and picture window configuration available. All sections can be cut and "custom-fit" on the job.
